Frequently Asked Questions

Porta Chair

From what age can I use the Porta Chair? Does my baby have to be able to sit upright?

The Porta Chair can be used from as early as 5 months, much earlier than most traditional highchairs. Your baby only needs to be able to support their head in an upright position, not the entire body as the Porta Chair provides proper support even at an early age.

Which set of holes should I use for the shoulder harness strap?

The shoulder harness should fit at or slightly above shoulder height for maximum stability and comfort, similar to the harness used in a car seat. As a general guideline:

  • Use bottom straps for 5 months – 10 months
  • Middle straps for 10 months – 15 months
  • Upper straps for larger babies

Is there a size/weight limit for using the Porta Chair?

The Porta Chair does not have a weight limit as it utilizes a standard adult chair; however there is an upper age limit which should be determined by the temperament and maturity of the child. At the earlier ages, the Porta Chair provides support so your child can sit upright, unaided. At the later ages (2 ½ years), the Porta Chair serves the purpose of keeping your child securely in place and free from falling off a ‘big chair.’

Is the Porta Chair machine washable?

Yes, the Porta Chair is machine washable and we recommend using cold/warm water. To air dry, simply hang or lay flat. We do not recommend machine drying.

Is it safe to use a pillow under the Porta Chair to add height?

Unlike a booster seat, the Porta Chair was designed to keep your child’s center of gravity low and at the back of the chair which is the safest and most stable position. If you would like to add height by using a pillow, you will need to take the bottom strap and attach directly under the seat of the chair.

How do I know the Porta Chair is safe?

When it comes to safety, no other product on the market comes close. BambinOz was the first company to incorporate the Product Safety Framework (PSF) guidelines for all baby products set by Standards Australia, into its design. The design was further refined and tested by a group of over 40 independent families with children ages 5 – 30 months. Before the Porta Chair is produced, all of the fabrics and materials are manufactured to meet our strict guidelines according to the leading US and EU safety requirements and only the highest quality materials are used. Finally, we engage the best independent testing agencies to administer independent safety testing against the leading Australia, US and European requirements – these agencies test for stability, tear strength, seam strength, choking hazards, presence of harmful dyes and chemicals, labeling, etc. At the end of the day, the Porta Chair is the ONLY high chair accredited and approved by the Infant Nursery Products Association of Australia (INPAA) – the leading independent safety advisory council.

Which color is best against staining?

The Porta Chair is made from a special Cotton/Poly blend which is very durable. All colors hold up well against staining and are machine washable.

Can I use the Porta Chair on a dining chair with a high back?

Yes, the Porta Chair will fit chairs up to 63 cm (25 inches) measured from base of seat to top of chair. There is an alternate fit for these types of chairs which is described in the instruction guide or through the step-by-step video demonstration.

Bottle Warmer Pack

How far do I have to bend/flex the disc?

Gently depress the convex side of the metal disc (shaped like the outside of a ball), pressing down on the raised center of disc with two thumbs just far enough to hear a slight click sound; flexing the disc too far may cause it to break.

How long does it take to heat?

It depends on the amount of liquid in the bottle, starting temperature and insulation. Once activated, the pad will begin producing heat immediately and should heat milk to slightly warmer than breast milk temperature in 10-20 minutes.

What makes it heat?

The warming pad contains water, a food grade sodium acetate (a form of salt) solution and a stainless steel disc. Flexing the disc in the liquid creates a chain reaction causing the pad to crystallize and generate heat.

How long will the bottle warmer give off heat?

The warming pad generally can generate heat for up to an hour but may keep liquids warm for much longer (up to 2 hours) if placed in the insulated carrier.

How many times can the warming pads be used?

There is no limit as to the number of times a warming pad can be used. There are ‘instant heat’ pads which use a similar technology still in use after eighteen years. The warming pad will not operate if the plastic pouch gets a small hole or is punctured.

Why do I have to boil the warming pad?

When you boil the warming pad you are simply melting it back to the liquid state. While you can submerge the warming pad in very hot water (i.e, directly from a kettle), this may not be hot enough to melt every crystal. If you do not melt every crystal, the liquid will re-solidify as it cools.

How long does the warming pad need to boil?

When you want to re-use the pack, place it in a pot of actively boiling water for 5-10 minutes until all of the crystals are melted.

My pad starts to crystallize after I’ve boiled it, why is this happening?

This is the most common question we receive. If your warming pad automatically begins to crystallize after you have boiled it (as it is cooling), not every crystal was melted. Try placing the pad again into boiling water for a few minutes longer. If the problem continues, please contact us via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Can I use the warming pad as a cold pack?

Yes, the bottle warmer can be placed in the fridge (not the freezer) for up to an hour and will remain cold for an extended period if placed in the insulated carrier.

Why won’t my bottle warmer activate?

The bottle warmer must be completely cool and in its liquid state to heat properly. If you try and activate a warm bottle warmer, it will not crystallize and turn white. Instead, the bottle warmer liquid will become cloudy and remain mostly liquid. Your bottle warmer must be below 54 degrees C (130 degrees F). Alternatively, the warming pad may not operate if there is a hole in the plastic.

The Porta Chair design provides significantly more sitting support and allows a younger baby or child (as early as 5 months) to sit comfortably upright even if they are not able to sit upright unassisted. In addition to sitting, the Anywhere Chair can also be used for hands-free sitting on a seated adult lap.
